Recently we experienced the passing of yet another Valentines Day. I think this day is only welcomed by the girls and even then it is those girls who has a partner. For the males it is also known as Wastage Day because they have to fork out huge amount of $$$ just so they don't have to look at their gf's black face. And for the still single and availables, it is THAT dreaded day when people ask where's your flower and where's your romantic dinner.
Being the nosy parker I am, I caught some of my guy friends to ask what flowers they got their gf and am most surprised that 80% of them did not even get a single stalk of rose. O NO! The death of romantism!! Guys, this is NOT the day to be logical thinking - girls don't appreciate it. I know most understanding gfs will tell you it's ok if they don't get the bunch of roses, or it's ok if you had maggi mee at home instead, but you know what? Deep down inside, they are damn dissapointed that for ONE day in the year, their special someone couldn't be romantic enough to forget being logical.
All guys complain that this is a commercialised day, that guys who does go out to buy those extravagently expensive stuff are either suckers or going all out to con some gal. Not really true. I believe these are the guys who know how to pamper a girl and to make her feel special. Every girl wants to feel special and appreciated and loved by their partner. We actually don't really care about the flowers, but rather it is the action of actually buying it that matters. To us it means that despite you being all smart, all intelligent, all logical and all manly, yet because you love us sooooooo very very much and think I am sooooo soooo special to you, therefore you are willing to be stupid for once and splurge on something even if it's illogically priced JUST SO you can see a smile on my face. Now that's what I call someone special :)
Ok, I can imagine all u males complaining why are girls so materialistic. Well, maybe not all. Maybe it's only me :D Personally, I prefer a bunch of diamonds rather than a bunch of roses that will die in 3 days. (They didn't call me a dreamer for nothing!!) So did I get my bunch of roses? Ummm...nope (*crying crying crying*) I read in the newspaper that HK girls even get so desperate as to send themselves flowers just so they can show it off to their office mates. Lucky I haven't gotten that sad!
But anyway, despite having no big bunch of flowers, and no romantic candlelight dinner (nor a small little diamond..tsk tsk), I had the moon and the stars and the company of a guy who knew it doesn't take $$ to pamper a girl. But most guys don't have that talent so you guys better resort to the flowers ya :-p
Happy Belated Valentines to all, and hope you'll remember that everyday should be a Valentine's Day if you really love someone. Muakssssss XXX
